Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine have a long history of safe use predominantly in the East but over the last fifty years increasingly in the West as well.

Acupuncture uses the insertion of very fine needles in points in the arms, legs and body to "correct the flow of Qi". It can be used to address a range of disharmonies which lead to ill health.

Herbal Medicines have been used in all cultures throughout the ages and by man and animal alike. Chinese herbal medicines as practised in this country constitute a huge range of plant materials with diverse uses.

Huge amounts of research are being done in China looking at how and why this system is medicine is effective and the research coming out of the UK, Europe, US and Australia, NZ is increasing year on year.

Practitioners of Herbal Medicine are to gain statutory regulation through the Health Professionals Council from next year and Acupuncturists hope to obtain Chartered status demonstrating the high levels of education and conduct of these professionals.
